In his speech, the Chief Adviser also highlighted the worsening climate crisis.
He said, 'Our civilization is now in grave danger. Because we are promoting self-destructive values. We need to mobilize intellectual, economic and youthful energy to lay the foundations of a new civilization; A self-sufficient and self-confident Bolian civilization must be created. We, the human children of this planet, have caused the destruction of the planet and we are doing it willingly. We have chosen a lifestyle that is not environmentally friendly. And as the rationale behind this, we talk about economic infrastructure, which is considered as natural as day-night, sunrise-sunset. But this economic structure is dependent on unlimited consumption. The more you suffer, the bigger you will be. The older you are, the more you earn. Maximizing profit is the foundation of this structure through which everyone plays their part.'
To survive, we have to create a different culture, lifestyle said Dr. Yunus. He offers such a different way of life.
He said, 'This lifestyle will be based on zero waste. We will limit the expenditure to the necessary needs, without any excess waste. This lifestyle will be based on zero carbon. There will be no fossil fuels. There will be only renewable energy. Next, we need to create an economic structure based primarily on zero private profit, i.e. social business. The business is non-profit, which seeks to solve social and environmental problems. A large part of social business will deal with the protection of human communities and the environment. By ensuring the right to affordable health care and education, people's lives will be saved and qualitatively improved. Here the youth will have an opportunity to become an entrepreneur. They will prepare to become entrepreneurs through new education. Entrepreneurial education system will be established instead of our job seeking education system.'
According to this Nobel laureate, a new way of life is necessary for the safety of the environment. That way of life will not be imposed on anyone, rather people will accept it voluntarily.
'Young people love this lifestyle. Every young person will grow up with zero net carbon emissions, zero wealth accumulation through social business and zero unemployment through self-entrepreneurship. Every person will grow up as a three-zero person and will have a three-zero personality throughout life. This is how a new civilization will develop,' he said.
Dr. expressed confidence that it is possible to build such a civilization. Yunus.
He concluded his speech by saying, 'I hope you will all join me in this dream. If we can dream together, then this dream will come true.'
The Chief Adviser arrived in Baku on Monday evening to attend the UN Climate Conference, COP-29. He is scheduled to return home on November 14.
